Uses:
It is widely used in biochemistry for the precipitation of macromolecules such as proteins, DNA and RNA. The main application for the sodium salt of TCA is its use as a selective herbicide and in formulations with 2,4-D and 2,4,5-T preparations as a total herbicide. Solutions of trichloroacetic acid are used for tattoo removal and the treatment of warts, including genital warts, but it is not recommended for self usage. TCA is also used as an auxiliary in textile dying processes.
