Natural Calcium Bentonite for Clay Masks, Detoxification etc
Calcium Bentonite is another name for Calcium Montmorillonite. It is a Smectite class silicate, clay-mineral composite. It is a naturally existing clay that is made from geologic tectonic plate activity, volcanic action and river hydrolysis. Unlike other clays, only Smectites can absorb and adsorb. It is an expandable clay which is often referred to as a green swelling clay. Calcium bentonite is a useful adsorbent of ions in solution, as well as fats and oils.
This calcium bentonite is supplied as a granular powder.
External use deep cleanses skin pores, removing dirt and impurities, lifting out poisons and toxins stored in the epidermis; pimples and blackheads are absorbed into the clay bed, resulting in accelerated healing and nourishment of the skin. The skin is clean, refreshed, and alive. You can see and feel the difference. Continued use results in a more beautiful, healthy skin. (Note: Initial use may result in a temporary increase of blemishes as toxins are pulled from the epidermal layers.) See below – how to make Face Masks

Mix equal amounts of calcium bentonite and water. Mix in a glass, ceramic or
plastic bowl (not metal) until you have a thick paste. you can add more water to
achieve a workable paste. You can add a few drops of your favourite essential
oils (Jojoba, chamomile, honey, aloe vera etc), honey, olive oil etc.
Apply the clay to your skin using your fingetips or a clean foundation brush.
Normal application should be a thickness of between 3mm and 1cm. Allow to dry
and leave on the face for between 5 minutes for sensitive skin to 20 minutes
for normal skin. Wash off with warm water.
Notes: it is advisable to apply the clay to the skin after a bath or shower when
the pores of the skin are open.
There may be a tightening sensation on the skin while wearing the mask – this
is normal.
