Steam-distilled essential oil from the flowering tops of Lavandula angustifolia (true lavender).
Aroma: soft, floral-herbal, slightly sweet, with a clean, calming character.

Key natural constituents (typical ranges)

• Linalyl acetate ~20–50% → silky, fruity-floral body

• Linalool ~20–50% → fresh floral lift
  

 Common physical data

• Appearance: colorless to pale yellow, mobile liquid

• Solubility: oil/ethanol-soluble; insoluble in water (use a solubiliser for sprays)

• Relative density (20 °C): ~0.875–0.895

• Refractive index (20 °C): ~1.455–1.468

• Flash point: ~70 °C (flammable)

• Storage: cool, dark, tightly closed; antioxidants/headspace help slow oxidation

Applications

Fine fragrance

• EDP/Perfume (ethanol): 0.5–8% (it behaves like a heart note and blends beautifully).

• Aromatherapy diffusers: 3–8 drops per 100 mL water (device-dependent).

Personal care (skin-safe, leave-on/rinse-off)*

• Leave-on (lotions, facial oils, balms): 0.1–0.6% typical.

• Targeted body oils/massage blends: 0.5–1.5%.

• Rinse-off (shower gel, shampoo, hand wash): 0.2–1%.

• Bar soap/syndet: 0.5–2% (good scent retention).

Home fragrance (non–skin contact)

• Candles (soy/coco/paraffin): 5–9% of wax; cures well and throws best when blended (see tips).

• Wax melts: 7–12%.

• Reed diffusers (e.g., Augeo base): 15–25% EO.

• Room/linen sprays: 0.2–1% with a proper solubiliser; patch-test fabrics.

Household

• Laundry scent boosters, pillow/linen mists, gentle surface-cleaner fragrance, pot-pourri refresher.
