SILICONE OIL 50 cPs/cSt

Xiameter Pmx-200 Silicone Fluid 50cs

Dimethicone 50

Cosmetic / Industrial / Laboratory

A high quality of silicone oil which is clear, water- white, tasteless, odorless and neutral liquid. Its viscosity shows very little change with temperature variation. It exhibits minimum of change among all types of silicone fluids. Outstanding resistance to high and low temperature extremes, maintenance of flexibility over a wide temperature range are its unique properties.

It shows high resistance to breakdown by mechanical shearing. The low change in viscosity with temperature and excellent heat and cold resistance makes it an ideal lubricant. It is, therefore, widely used in gear wheels, bearings and brushes. It exhibits excellent dielectric properties, which are maintained for prolonged periods of time even under varying operating conditions.

It is soluble in many solvents and can be used as an active ingredient in cosmetic, automotive, furniture, metal and speciality polishes providing lubrication, softness and silky feel.

Properties and features of silicone oil 50

  • Chemically Inert
  • Good dielectric characteristics
  • Excellent High & Low Thermal Stability
  • High Water Repellence
  • Low surface tension
  • Low pour point
  • Excellent Lubrication
  • Non-Flammable
  • High Resistance to Oxidation
  • High Resistance to Shear
  • Low surface tension
  • Low viscosity-temperature change

Uses of silicone oil 5000:

  • Cosmetic applications (see below)
  • Heat & mechanical transfer media
  • Hydraulic fluids
  • Liquid dielectric for electrical and electronic
  • Water repellents
  • Polishes
  • Antifriction agents
  • Lubricants
  • Antifoams
  • Mould release agents
  • Automotive care, Paint
  • Sewing thread lubricant & textile spin finish

Other uses include High Damping Action Fluid, Dielectric Fluid, Lubricant for Rubber and plastics, O-Ring Lubricant, Valve and Gasket lubricant.

Common Uses of Silicone 50 (50 cSt PDMS)

1. Lubricant and Release Agent

  • Plastic, rubber, and metal mold release

  • Food-grade lubricants (if FDA-compliant)

  • Lubrication for rubber gaskets, seals, and O-rings

2. Polishes and Surface Protectants

  • Used in automotive polishes, furniture sprays, and vinyl protectants

  • Adds gloss and water repellency to surfaces like plastics, dashboards, and metals

3. Antifoam & Defoamer Base

  • May be used as-is or modified into antifoam emulsions

  • Effective in industrial cleaning, wastewater, and fermentation systems

4. Cosmetic & Personal Care

  • Used as a non-greasy emollient in:

    • Hair serums

    • Skin creams

    • Shaving products

  • Gives a smooth, silky feel and enhances spreadability

Silicone 50 is to be used as a surface agent or for de-soaping creams and lotions. However, 1–10% is needed for applications such as hand creams and lotions to form a more uniform film and effective barrier.

5. Dielectric & Thermal Stability

  • Used in electronic lubricants, insulating fluids, and coolants

  • Excellent dielectric properties and temperature resistance

6. Textile & Leather Applications

  • Acts as a softener or hydrophobising agent

  • Used in coating or finishing treatments
