Applications
Fine fragrance
-
EDP/Parfum (ethanol): 15–25% FO. Heavy gourmand/amber notes benefit from 2–4 weeks maceration, then chill + 0.45 µm filter.
-
Body/room mist: 3–8% FO.
Personal care (skin-contact)*
-
Lotion/cream/butter: 0.3–1.5% (up to ~2–3% if IFRA allows).
-
Shower gel/shampoo: 0.5–3%.
-
Bar soap/syndet: 2–4% typical. Expect vanillin-caused browning; use color stabiliser if needed.
*Verify IFRA Category limits for your batch (Cat 4, 5A/5B, 9, etc.).
Home fragrance (non-skin contact)
-
Candles (soy/coco/paraffin): 7–10% of wax. Cure 24–72 h; test wick—rich balsams/benzoin can mute throw if under-wicked.
-
Wax melts: 8–12%.
-
Reed diffusers (e.g., Augeo): 20–25% FO.
-
Room/linen sprays: 1–5% (patch-test fabrics).
Solubility & formulating tips
-
Solubility: Oil-soluble; FO may contain carriers (e.g., DPG/IPM). For crystal-clear alcohol sprays, do a small solubility test, then chill and filter.
-
Performance: Cherry/almond top is volatile—proper curing (candles) and maceration (EDP) noticeably improve balance.
-
Discoloration: Vanilla/benzoin/Peru balsam often cause cream-to-brown shift in soaps and light emulsions—plan colors accordingly.
-
Allergens/labels: Generate CLP for candles/diffusers and check cosmetic allergen disclosure (e.g., coumarin, cinnamal if present) from the oil’s SDS/Allergen data.
-
Preservation: In water-based cosmetics, this oil doesn’t preserve—use a suitable preservative; GLDA/EDTA-alternatives can help stability.
