Patchouli light Essential Oil Pure
-
Aroma: airy woody-amber, soft earthy sweetness, less musty/leathery than regular patchouli; great as a base/fixative without dominating.

- Solubility: oil/ethanol-soluble, not water-soluble
- Relative density (20 °C): ~0.95–0.98
- Refractive index (20 °C): ~1.50–1.51
- Flash point: typically ≥100 °C (non-phototoxic)
- Storage: cool, well-sealed, away from light; oxidised oil can smell harsher
Applications
Fine fragrance
-
EDP/Parfum (ethanol): 0.2–6% of the fragrance concentrate.
Adds tenacity, warmth, and diffusion without the heavy “hippie” vibe. -
Excellent in amber, gourmand, chypre, woody, and floral styles.
Personal care (skin-safe, leave-on/rinse-off)
-
Leave-on (lotions, body oils, balms): 0.05–0.5%
-
Rinse-off (shower gel, shampoo, soap): 0.2–1.0%
-
Bar soap/syndet: 0.3–1.5% (good scent retention; lighter colour helps with pale bars)
Home fragrance (non–skin contact)
-
Candles/wax melts: 5–9% of wax (often blended for lift).
-
Reed diffusers (e.g., Augeo base): 10–20% EO.
-
Room sprays: 0.2–1% with a solubiliser.
Why choose “Light” vs. regular patchouli?
-
Cleaner profile for modern formulas (less musty/dirty).
-
Lower colour/less staining in pale lotions/soaps.
-
Easier to dose in delicate florals and citrus without overwhelming.
Blending tips
-
For a plush amber: Patchouli Light + vanilla/benzoin + sandalwood.
-
For elegant florals: Patchouli Light + rose/peony/orris.
-
For fresh woods: Patchouli Light + cedar + grapefruit/bergamot.
-
To extend citrus: add Ambroxan/Iso E Super with a trace of Patchouli Light.
